Its not my thing to bring about the plight and peril of immigrants documented by sad imagery, but Africa is a tough place to live in as many are still impoverished and dream of a better life. Here are some photographs by Santiago Ferrero and other photojournalists.

I don’t have all the news about this project, my friend Mugambi pointed it to me. Its such a great way to sublimly educate an audience whilst entertaining them. HIV Free Generation is intended as a game to the youth. Its witty in its approach and wonderful at the hope it brings while being quite a thrill. I’ll get word on the street on this amazing project which has been partnered by Warner Brothers. Check out the cool animations on the Learn link. Don’t miss out Dr. Judy, she’s HOT!!!!

Happy New Year
I’m fired up to start off this year and as I begin, I’m re-defining this blog to bring you more tasty and rad stuff. This is a side project and its a way for me to stay plugged in, rooted and inspired to the continent I much love. So, here are some new updates and more to follow.
EA Collective Delicious : I bring you a selected list of the best of in motion, design, etc. There are serious gems in this condensed and growing list : Rex, Tenant McKay (whom I’ve mentioned before) and The Black Heart Gang who are now represented by Strange Beast (Passion Pictures collective). A lot of great work comes from South Africa and its all impressive. Keep checking this list, I’ll move over all the links here so be sure to add it on your dailies. Also check out The New Black their identity work is fantastic!
Street Fashion: So I like hoodies, puma sneakers, converses etc. I’m a black hipster and so be it. I’m yet to delve fully on street fashion in Africa. I’ll locate and share what I find!
Local Events: I’m located in Boston, MA as I write this, I’m far away from Africa and my yearly trip doesn’t allow me to gather everything I possibly want. N’way, I’m hopeful you will collaborate to add to this site by sending me bits of updates. Great work welcome!
Good luck in the new year….. to all!

I grew up rather shielded as a child looking at these photos. 24 Nairobi shows a piercing & uninhibited honesty that gives me a new perspective of the city. There is such openness portrayed in each of the times, day & night. A remarkable project with its ugly & beautiful sides. A big kudos to the organizers and also my friend Jimmy Gitonga for the site. My favs of the lot are Boniface Mwangi & Yasoyoshi Chiba. Thanks to all the photographers work & continued contribution to the project. 24 Nairobi has an ongoing exhibition at the National Museum.

Emmanuel Jal is remembered by those of us who saw him rap on stage early on in his music career at Nairobi Baptist. Its another thing all together to see him on a portfolio of photographer Shamil Tanna as I was browsing through pages of the current issue of computer arts magazine. Jal has a remarkable story and it uncovers much depth and sadness from where he came from. From a soldier boy in Sudan to shaking up his career in the UK to being on the soundtrack of the movie – Blood Diamond with his song Baai. I haven’t caught up with him in concert, but check out his site and a couple of his music videos and featured interviews on youtube here.

Peter Mute manages to stay busy and almost invisible. His work however is stunning. Its been a couple of years and I have been waiting to see his projects up. Pete’s work is uplifiting in a country where he is one of very few. As I beckon for more, see more sizzle and dazzle in his past & new projects here.

Lights & Music!!!! Our noted photographer and homey Jim Chuchu and his band members Bill & Daniel have set to enlighten the audiences in Nairobi. Pruned in an era where our tastes in music have become as diverse as ever while tasteful, makes this band a bit of the hipster kind and the avant garde that chuchu often tends to delight us with in his work. I wanna go to this show and see this band live. Even though I haven’t listened to their entire discography, I’m certain in many ways – there is much to enjoy! Go see them LIVE (Aug 1st)!
